Ella y su marido tienen dos hijas, y aunque reciben cupones de alimentos, no dan para alimentar a la familia. El barrio de Kim est\u00e1 en un desierto alimentario. No hay grandes supermercados, y lo m\u00e1s parecido a una tienda de comestibles es el Dollar General. La mayor\u00eda de los habitantes de la zona no tienen coche. Para las personas sin transporte, los \u00fanicos lugares donde comprar comida son la tienda de d\u00f3lar o la gasolinera. Esto significa que la mayor\u00eda de la gente no tiene acceso a productos frescos, y mucho menos a carne y productos l\u00e1cteos frescos.<\/p>\n<p>La gente de la comunidad de Kim sufre problemas de salud relacionados con la dieta, como hipertensi\u00f3n, diabetes y cardiopat\u00edas. Kim no quiere que sus hijos crezcan as\u00ed, pero la imposibilidad de conseguir alimentos nutritivos es un gran obst\u00e1culo. A veces me resulta muy doloroso intentar alimentar a mi familia. Nuestra salud b\u00e1sica es realmente el principal problema. Si tuvi\u00e9ramos m\u00e1s frutas y verduras, estoy segura de que no estar\u00eda tan estresada\".<\/p>\n<p>A Kim le preocupan los efectos a largo plazo de la inseguridad alimentaria en sus hijos.
